This term our children have been practising sports hall athletics. To bring their work to an end we held an inter house competition. The children thoroughly enjoyed the competitive nature of this sport and we were really pleased to see our yr 6 children taking charge as sports leaders. After all the jumps and throws the results have been calculated using averages to allow for a direct comparison. Mr Burdes is adamant that the measurements on his spread sheets must remain TOP SECRET! However he has provided the overall positions for each year group and combined scores for both upper and lower school. These are attached below. Well done children! The next event will be basketball.

This afternoon 11 of our year 5&6 children competed in the Rushcliffe Cross Country Championship. All the best schools were there to battle it out over a 1500m cross country course. If any of our children succeeded in top 12 place they would qualify for 'TEAM RUSHCLIFFE' and will race in a county final in February 2016.
The girls were first to race and Mr Burdes admitted that he was worried that our girls may have set off a bit too slowly as they disappeared behind the trees in approx. 40th place out of 60 runners. However after several minutes the runners reappeared with all our girls in the top 15. They would have to run hard over the final 300m (which included a tough hill) to hold their places. The girls really did push on and Kiera sprinted hard to snatch 2nd place in the final 10m of the race. Elissa was close behind in 4th, Bella 5th , Maisie 8th and Millie 14th. It was a super race and well done! Mr Burdes was especially impressed by Millie who took a tumble in the last part of the race but got up and carried on.
When the boys saw Kiera with a silver medal around her neck they were determined to equal her success. Their running was sensational! Harry C 1st, Will 2nd, Jamie 3rd Harry B 5th, Ben 9th & Noah 22nd. What an achievement! Good luck in the county final all of you.
Years 3,4, 5 & 6 compete in March in the Rushcliffe team relays so keep training everyone because it is the only way to get better.
