Year 3 & 4 Athletics Teams Compete Brilliantly.
On Monday, 30 children from years 3 & 4 competed in the heats of the Rushcliffe Athletics Championship. The majority of the squad were representing the school for the first time and overcame their nerves incredibly well. All of the children ran well and did a great job during the relays for their team mates. In the field events they also did brilliantly well and should all be very, very proud of themselves.
The results are as follows:
1st Radcliffe Royal Blues
2nd Radcliffe Hawaiian Blues
3rd St. Peter's Ruddington
4th Lady Bay
5th West Bridgford B Team
6th Radcliffe Sky Blues
8th West Bridgford A Team
9th East Bridgford A Team
=11th Arch Bishop Cranmer & East Bridgford B Team.
All 3 teams have qualified for the finals in a few weeks time - so let's get training! Good luck everyone.
Cross Country Club to Start Next Tuesday Lunchtime.
As Mr Burdes is taking his class swimming on Thursdays, we have moved the cross country club to Tuesday lunchtimes. As before ANY child is more than welcome to take part in the club. It doesn't matter at all about experience or speed or whether they are in a running club elsewhere. The club's goal is to encourage all children to be active and to enjoy running.
With weather often being wet or cold during the spring months, Mr Burdes recommends children bring old trainers to run in and warm clothes to wear.
RUSH dance club restarting this term
The children are very excited to hear that Jennifer will be back to teach her contemporary dance club on Tuesday's after school. No dance experience is necessary to enjoy the club and it certainly will not hold back the children's enjoyment. If you child is interested there are still spaces for this term and the letter is listed below.
Newstead win 2016-17 Inter House Sports Hall Challenge.
At the end of December the whole school took part in an inter house sports hall athletics challenge. Every child represented their house in jumps and throws. The data was then averaged out to find out the results. Overall Newstead won the whole school challenge after winning the year 3, 5 & 6 challenges. Rufford held on for a win in year 4 and this helped them to 2nd place overall followed by Thoresby and then Wollaton house.
Everyone enjoyed a fun competition with their friends.
