Cross Country Championships
Posted 27th May 2016
On Tuesday nearly 40 children from years 3,4,5 & 6 represented the school in cross country. The annual Carnarvon School Cross Country Championships is a great event and gave many of our children their first taste of inter school competition, so we'd like to say a huge well done to this group of emerging athletes. Keep training as you'll continue to improve if you do.
The races for the younger children were approx. 750m long and we'd like to congratulate Madelief Johnson for winning gold in the yr3 girls' race and also Bibi Gordon for winning silver in the yr4 girls’ race.
The older children ran approx. 1500m and it was very competitive. Well done to Harry Clarke for winning gold in the year 5 boys' race and William Whitehead for achieving silver in this race. Maisie Pollard and Kiera King also won silver medals in their races and Harry Baxter a hard fought bronze.
New Sponsored Football Kits
We've been really, really fortunate at school as two companies, Frogbox IT and First Grade Sports, have provided us with sponsored kits. A big thank you to both of these companies.
Swim Team Win Bronze at County Finals 2016
Today swimmers from years 3,4,5 & 6 represented the school at the Nottinghamshire School Swimming County Final. After the first few races it was very clear that the competition was going to be tough. Our children took it all in their stride and swam their hearts out and Mr Burdes was extremely proud of how well they all coped with their nerves and how they supported each other. During the relays they really worked well together and the girls medley team were awesome! Likewise the swims of all our children during the cannon race at the end of the competition really stood out. As the competition was so tough, the team were definitely not expecting a podium finish - however as the results were read out we realised that we were top 10, then top 8 , then top 6...dare we dream? Incredibly we came third and which is a fantastic result for the squad. Well done children!
Football Team Progress to Semi Finals in County Cup!
Last week, the Year 6 Boys' Football Team played in the quarter finals of the County Cup against Lady Bay School. It was a tremendous match with both sides never giving up and trying their hardest all the way to the final whistle. Mrs Allsopp was very pleased with the boy's team work and communication during the match. The worked very well together to secure an 8-0 victory and will be playing against Beasby School on Wednesday this week.
