Rushcliffe Sports Awards - Dave Bullas Award - Primary School of the Year.

Last week our school was nominated for 3 different awards at the Rushcliffe Sports Awards 2016. The children's enjoyment of sport and their participation in clubs and competitions was rewarded and recognised by the judges and our school won the Dave Bullas Award for the primary school of the year. Additionally our athletics team and our tag rugby team were shortlisted for the primary school team for the year. Well done to everyone.

Year 3 & 4 Athletics Club

Starting next week we shall be hosting our year 3 & 4 athletics club. During the winter months the club focuses on the sports hall athletics programme and will help children develop their skills in jumping , throwing and sprinting. The club letter is featured below and will start on Friday.

We expect the club to be very popular but can only have approx 30 children ( the same amount as a class) take part at anyone time. It is therefore likely that we will run 2 blocks of clubs with the first group/block starting next week and the 2nd group/block starting in 2017.

Many children will be invited to also compete in sports hall athletics in the Rushcliffe Championship but for those that don't get the call up this year we will be having every child compete in the inter house competition before Christmas.

Schools Biathlon Time Trial Harvey Hadden School - October 2016

Mr Burdes emailed our parents recently to advise them about a biathlon competition during the half term break. He was delighted to see so many of our children enter this event and enjoy the competition.  The children had to swim 50m and run upto 800m in this competition. Their times for both events were then awarded points and then the overall results were then calculated.  The children all did brilliantly and enjoyed their time at the  Harvey Hadden Sports Complex (which is a super facility). The link below shows how well they did.

If your child is interested in this kind of event they may want to contact the 5 Boroughs Pentathlon Club  or Calverton and Bingham Swim Club or Leander Swim Club or Rushcliffe Athletics Club

Awesome Athletics Heats

This week 40 children from year 5&6 competed in the Rushcliffe Sports Hall Athletics heats at West Bridgford School. Our 4 teams raced against some of the most competitive schools in Rushcliffe. Consequently the competition was very hard and our children were pushed hard in every race and every field event. Each year the local schools get better and better and this makes for some thrilling races and exciting competition. Our children had their share of slips and spills but always bounced back and carried on. Mrs Allsopp was very proud to see our school values happening right in front of our eyes. Every child did their best and this includes our rookies, who were competing for the first time,  and our super subs who stepped in at the last minute to help the team. Thank you.

The results from the heats came through today and, considering who we were up against, were very impressive.
