Welcome to the Birch Class webpage!

Key Information for Birch Class:

  • Homework will be sent out on a Friday and should be returned to school by the following Wednesday. Spellings will be tested on Wednesday.
  • Reading diaries should come to school every day. The diaries will be checked every Wednesday so please check that your child has (at least) 4 entries recorded to get their sticker on the reading chart!
  • This term, our PE lessons are on Thursday and Friday. Please can your child make sure that their PE kit is in school for these days. We advise that the children keep their PE kit in school as there will be many sports clubs running throughout the week! We will be indoors and outdoors for PE so trainers, spare socks and a warm layer to put on would be worth including in the kit. If your child wears earrings, please can these be taken out before you child comes to school if they are unable to remove them themselves.

Anti-bullying Week

During Anti-bullying week we learnt about what bullying behaviour is and used STOP (Several Times On Purpose) to help us remember.  We talked about what changes we can make to stop bullying and how important it is to START talking (Start Telling Anyone you Really Trust).

Wearing odd socks reminded us that it's OK to be different and we should celebrate our uniqueness!

We had such a fantastic time enjoying all things Roman today! Birch class your costumes were amazing!

So how do sun dials show the time? We went outside to investigate for ourselves. Thankfully the sun was shining.

What a brilliant day we had in Year 3 and 4 for our introduction to The Romans! Were they Heroes or Villains?

Designing a Roman coin
Making our coins from clay.
Marching with Miss Raine.

Internet Safety

Does your child go online at home? We’ve used the following site in school to help teach our class about safe use of social media and online games. https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/8_10/control/chat/

We recommend that you spend some time on this site with your child so that you are aware of what they should be doing to stay safe and have fun whilst online.

Select the ‘cyber café’ and then choose 'enter'  after this the 'host' called Griff should be able to tell you what to do to explore the site.
