Our governors play an important role in the life and strategic direction of Radcliffe-on-Trent Junior School. They know our school and community well and share our ambition to provide the best possible education and opportunities for every child.

Working alongside school leaders, governors provide both support and constructive challenge. They use a range of evidence, including monitoring visits, school information, pupil outcomes and the views of our school community, to understand how well the school is doing and to assure themselves that decisions and actions are making a positive difference.

An important part of effective governance is listening to our school community. Governors seek the views and experiences of pupils, parents and carers, staff and other stakeholders. These are considered alongside other evidence so that different perspectives are welcomed, feedback is listened to and our community has a voice in the strategic development of the school.

Governors are ambitious for every pupil. Alongside monitoring the quality of education and opportunities for all children, they pay particular attention to pupils who may experience barriers to learning, participation or attendance. Our Equality Objectives form an important part of this work and sit alongside our wider school priorities.
