How can you support your children at home?

Reading It is expected that children read at least four times a week, as reading is the foundation for all other learning This should be recorded in their reading diaries each week and signed by an adult To support their progress, you can use the comprehension sentence stems on the school website to strengthen their understanding of what they are reading Please spend some time discussing with your child what they have read and any new vocabulary each week Your child will be able to tell you which day they need to hand their reading diary in to their class teacher

Spellings Children will be explicitly taught spelling rules within class New spelling lists will be sent home on Fridays and tested the following week The spelling lists for each half term are displayed on the website for reference

Homework Homework is sent home on a Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday Any children who have not brought in their homework by Thursday will attend Homework Club at break time with a teacher
