How You Can Support Your Child at Home
Reading
Children are expected to read at least four times a week, as reading underpins all other areas of learning. Please record their reading in their reading diary and ensure it is signed by an adult each week. To support their progress, you can use the comprehension sentence stems available on the school website to enhance their understanding of the text. Take time to discuss what your child has read and explore any new vocabulary they encounter.
Spellings
Spelling rules are explicitly taught in class. New spelling lists will be sent home every Friday and tested the following Friday. These lists are available on the school website for your reference. To support their practice, children should use Spelling Shed to reinforce their learning of weekly spellings.
Homework
Homework will be sent home on Fridays and should be completed and returned by the following Friday. Children who do not return their homework will attend Homework Club during break time with a teacher.
Over the half term holidays, the children are required to complete pages 17, 18, 29 and 30 in their CGP Maths book.
This week, children are required to read 'An Underground City' and complete pages 16,17 and 20 in their CGP fiction reading book.
Spellings have been given out and are stuck into the children’s homework books. Please ensure these are practised.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child succeed in their final year of primary school!
